Based at Bunglasha Lodge, on the shores of Lough Derg, this is a fine relaxing location from where to enjoy the fine courses of Southern Ireland. Within an hour, there are 16 golf courses, and we can recommend several for truly interesting and challenging games.
After arrival at Shannon, you will be collected and taken to play golf directly, to get your holiday off to a great start. Then we transfer you to Bunglasha Lodge, to enjoy dinner cooked by our Chef – you can choose from a range of local culinary specialities. Afterwards, enjoy the log and turf fire.
We have close relations with several clubs and special rates have been negotiated. The main high season is April to September, although bookings outside this time are welcomed.

Day 1 – Arrival
Arrival at lunchtime at Shannon Airport. Pick up and short drive to Dromoland Castle Estate. This is a ‘must play’ Gold destination. After golf, transfer to Killaloe, step on to the private Bunglasha Cruiser and enjoy wonderful short scenic trip to Bunglasha Lodge, on Lough Derg with a hot ‘toddy’ on board. Arrive at the lodge to the true Irish hospitality. Absorb the warmth and comfort of your luxurious surroundings with Guinness or whiskey at the bar. Enjoy the log & turf fire which greets your arrival or you may prefer Killaloe tea & scones. Traditional Irish Dinner will be served that evening. Pre-Dinner drinks may be served on the terraces overlooking Lough Derg.
Play Adare Manor Course, home to the Irish Open 2007, 2008, 2009, & 2010. This golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior, is situated on 840a acre estate of Adare Manor located 22 miles form Shannon Airport. Stretching 7,453 yards from the championship tees, this majestic parkland course includes lakes, historic ruins, subtly undulating greens, many magnificent mature trees and cloverleaf bunkers. A 14 acre lake dominates the front nine and the back nine is routed through a heavily wooded area of the estate with the River Maigue dominating the finishing holes and the Manor acting as a majestic backdrop. The 18th hole ranks as one of the best ever designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior. Tiger Woods, among many greats has played here. Enjoy Dinner that evening in one of the traditional local pubs/restaurants and have a chat with the locals, you will have a day to remember.
The Chef at Bunglasha once again starts your day, with Continental or Irish Breakfast on request. You will be taken to East Clare Golf Course, which is just 15 minutes drive from Bunglasha Lodge. This course is set on 150 acres of unspoilt, rolling quiet countryside with majestic views of East Clare. It features potentially hazardous lakes, streams, bunkers and trees. Opened in 1997, it has already hosted the European Seniors Tour event and is very popular with visitors both from overseas and within Ireland. Length 5, 905 yards. You can dine in Clubhouse Restaurant that evening and return to Bunglasha Lodge for a ‘nightcap’.
The West Coast of County Clare calls you on Day 4, travelling from East to West through winding country roads, visit Doonbeg Golf Course on the Atlantic Coast. This superb 19 hole golf links was designed by two time British Open Champion Greg Norman. With 1.5 miles of ocean frontage and sand dunes rising up to 100ft, the ocean is visible from 16 of its 18 holes. It’s a course for those who seek a real golfing challenge. Since opening in July 2002, Doonbeg Golf Club has been internationally acclaimed including Golf Digest’s coveted ‘Best New International Course of 2002’ designation. Length 6,885 yards. Enjoy your evening meal in the excellent Bar overlooking the Sea and return later that evening to Bunglasha Lodge.
Visit Lahinch Golf Club (Old Course) on day 5, approx 1 hour drive from Bunglasha Lodge. Established in 1892 this course is frequently referred to as the St. Andrews of Ireland as it looks out on the ever-changing Atlantic Ocean and is subject to all her mood swings. It is a superb links course with an abundance of exceptional golf holes where the natural terrain is utilised to optimum advantage. It hosts the South of Ireland Amateur Golf Championship annually and should be on every golfer’s itinerary. Length 6,881 yards. When you have completed an enjoyable day’s golf, return to Bunglasha Lodge to a good wholesome meal with top quality wine and sample an expertly made ‘Irish Coffee’ before retiring for the night.
You have a choice of playing any of the following courses today. Play Ennis, Castletroy, Limerick or Nenagh, all just 30 minutes drive from your base. You won’t be disappointed with any of our recommendations and the choice is yours dine in one of the local pubs or eat at home with good local produce provided. Relax and enjoy the beauty of Lough Derg and surrounding area. De Stress before your final day.
If you wish to rise early and play golf that can be arranged (depending on flight times) or you may wish to visit Bunratty Castle and Folk park on your way to the Airport or visit some of the local East Clare sights and purchase your holiday gifts before you make your return journey.
