Arrival mid afternoon at Shannon Airport with Mini Bus to Killaloe.  Step on to Private Bunglasha Cruiser and enjoy wonderful short scenic trip to Bunglasha Lodge, on Lough Derg with a hot ‘toddy’ on board (weather dependent).  Arrive at the lodge to the true Irish hospitality.  Absorb the warmth and comfort of your luxurious surroundings with Guinness or whiskey at the bar, where drinks are complimentary.  Enjoy the Log & Turf fire which greets your arrival or you may prefer  tea & scones.  You will then be transported to a local bar and restaurant, and enjoy some Irish Music. On arrival back at Bunglasha, enjoy a nightcap before bed.

DAY 2 – 220 Bird Day

Day 2 morning starts with a home cooked Irish Breakfast served at Bunglasha Lodge by our own chef.  From the jetty, your party takes the cruiser along Lough Derg (weather dependent) on to Skehanagh Bay, enjoying the magnificent scenery and unspoilt countryside.  We transfer here to an old World War 2 Landing Craft, motoring in style to the large island of Illaunmore.

Here there is high quality Pheasant and Partridge shooting, with a series of planned drives. The shoot captain for the day is the local huntsmen, who will organize drives and beaters. We anticipate some high and fast birds, in a fascinating island shooting environment.  Lunch is a 3 course dinner served on the island.    After counting the bag, we return down the lake to the lodge, again in the cruiser for a well earned tea, gun cleaning and showers.  After a relaxing break, enjoy a pre-dinner Guinness at the Lodge, before moving by minibus to local Irish Pub and Restaurant for Dinner.  Meet the locals and enjoy the music and craic for the evening.

The Partridges are fast and curling which make a challenging fun day’s shooting for your guns.

DAY 3 – 160 to 600 bird day

We have an interesting start to the day, and for the early riser, a morning wild deer shoot, with our local huntsman to guide you. This is no doubt some of the most exciting shooting, if you are lucky, and the thrill of the shoot is unsurpassed.

On your return Breakfast will be served at Bunglasha Lodge, or breakfast will start the day for those who have chosen a leisurely start, with a choice of Continental or Irish Breakfast on request.

After breakfast guests will travel by minibus to the Dromoland Estate, some 30 minutes from the Lodge. This is a delightful shoot, in open Clare countryside, and overlooking the Shannon Estuary. The game for the day is pheasant.  There is a mini shoot (160-200 birds), or for those with extra stamina a full shoot (200-600 birds).  Lunch and refreshments will be provided at the famous estate.  Our keeper for the day will be a local experienced guide.

Returning to the Lodge at 6 o’clock, after tea and gun-cleaning, you relax and enjoy the fire, with a rest before dinner. Dinner will be at a local Restaurant in a nearby village or if you like our chef will cook a traditional Irish Dinner (choice of 3 menus).  Whilst recounting  tales of the day, guests at Bunglasha Lodge may want to enjoy a Guinness or a hot toddy before retiring to bed.

On the Day of Departure breakfast will again be provided and afterwards you can relax and take a stroll on the shores of Lough Derg or through the woods.

Prior to leaving by air you can, take a shopping trip to Ennis or visit Bunratty Castle & Folk Park en-route to Shannon Airport (depending on flight time).  It is your party, you may vary the event as you choose, and we will be pleased to create your events package within the framework above, and make suggestions as to how to get the best out of your stay with us.  We are flexible with this itinerary, so please let us know your requirements and we will plan accordingly.
